Larch Cladding Boards VERTICAL PROFILE (VP)
These cladding boards are crafted from high-quality, slow-grown larch. The profile creates a seamless dynamic appearance with a central shadow gap. The unique, narrower, and sharper profile ensures easy installation and adaptability. Commonly used in residential and commercial projects, these boards are suitable for both exterior and interior finishes.
- Material: Made from premium slow-grown larch wood, dried to approximately 16-18% moisture content (+/- 2%).
- Fire Resistance: Can be treated to achieve Euroclass B-s1, d0 fire rating.
- Installation: Cladding sections are installed vertically.
- Finish: Smooth finish with sharp edges and an 8 mm visible shadow gap.
- Colour: Natural, untreated.
Larch is one of the most unique trees, surpassing metal in cold resistance, possessing hardwood qualities, and having the hardness of stone. Unlike other materials, moisture strengthens larch over time. This wood is extremely beneficial as a construction material due to its durability and natural resistance to environmental factors, rot, and pests.
Durability
- Larch wood is inherently durable (Class 3 according to BS EN 350-2), making it ideal for outdoor use due to several factors:
- Chemical Composition: Provides high resistance to decay, making it one of the hardest and most durable softwoods.
- High Density: Dense structure prevents decay organisms from penetrating.
- Longevity: With proper treatment and maintenance, larch wood can last 50-100 years even in outdoor conditions.
- Natural Longevity: Does not require treatment to maintain durability; any coatings are for aesthetic purposes.
Density
Larch wood is highly dense, classified at approximately 630 kg/m³ at 18% moisture content according to BS EN 350-2. This density makes it highly resistant to damage, and suitable for exposed locations or areas prone to scratches and impacts.
Stability
Our larch wood products are kiln-dried using convection drying processes, ensuring even drying and optimal stability.
For better dimensional stability, we recommend using narrower widths, such as 120 mm and 95 mm, which further enhance the wood’s performance.
