Larch Cladding Boards BATTENS (BT)
Introducing our premium larch cladding boards, crafted from slow-grown larch. These versatile profiles are ideal for both exterior and interior projects, with the flexibility to be installed horizontally or vertically. They are a popular choice for both residential and commercial applications.
These boards are made from high-quality, slow-grown larch wood, dried to a moisture content of approximately 16-18% (+/- 2%). They can be treated to meet fire resistance standards: B-s1, d0, Euroclass B-s1, d0. With proper treatment, they can last between 35 to 50 years, or 20 to 30 years without any treatment.
With a smooth finish and square edges, they are ideal for use as window and door trims. These untreated larch boards and battens are highly durable, surpassing metal in cold resistance, offering hardwood characteristics, and becoming stronger over time due to moisture exposure. This makes larch an exceptional building material, naturally resistant to environmental factors, rot, and wood pests.
Durability
Larch is naturally durable (Class 3 according to BS EN 350-2), making it perfect for outdoor use:
- Its chemical composition provides excellent resistance to decay, ranking it among the toughest and most durable softwoods.
- Its high density makes it difficult for decay organisms to penetrate.
- With proper treatment and outdoor exposure, larch’s lifespan is about 50-100 years.
- Natural longevity means that treatment is optional, and any coatings are for aesthetic purposes only.
Density
Larch is an exceptionally dense wood, with a classification of approximately 630 kg/m³ at 18% moisture content according to BS EN 350-2. This density ensures its resistance to damage, making it ideal for exposed areas or places prone to scratches and scuffs.
